THCD passed TRC approval for the development of the Causey Street Project. That was just the beginning. Then we had to design a plan that would meet the needs of the state and local building codes.

Our UNCG Interior Architecture Intern Ms. Ocasio helped Design the first 288 sq ft model that is the first stick-built tiny house on a block foundation.

Footers were dug and inspected, with footings being poured with concrete and ready for the block foundation.

The first Tiny House

The first tiny house was 180 sq ft with a loft, built by students in Construction Technology classes at Weaver Academy.

Students raised the money for material and designed and built the tiny home in one semester. Weaver Academy continues to build tiny house along with other High Schools for THCD.

This house was moved on location by Reuben's Shed Moving. Moving and pilot car services were donated, as well.
